 Full Time Faculty Position – Non Tenure Track

 

Aeronautical Manufacturing

Position purpose

Vaughn College seeks candidates for a full-time faculty position in the engineering and engineering technology department. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in development of Vaughn’s Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Manufacturing engineering technology program. Vaughn seeks a candidate who can assist the department with the development and implementation process of a new BS degree in aeronautical manufacturing engineering technology program.

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • Assisting department with development and implementation process of new Aeronautical Manufacturing engineering technology program.
  • Developing and teaching lecture and laboratory courses in composite structural design & manufacturing, composite inspection and repair, computer numerical control machining and manufacturing, UAV construction and its application.
  • Teaching lecture courses in composite materials, solid mechanics, and engineering materials.
  • Assisting the engineering department in the development and enhancement process of the manufacturing laboratories.
  • Advising students and serving on department/college committees
  • Participation in workshops and hands-on training courses related to composite manufacturing and repair, CNC machining and advanced manufacturing.
  • Participation in scholarly activities that includes working with students in presenting and publishing papers related to mechanical and manufacturing engineering
  • Designing courses that support the student learning outcomes outlined by the department
  • Assessing student performance throughout the course and program using the Vaughn College faculty course assessment model.

The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses in engineering materials, composite design and manufacturing, solid mechanics, UAV, CNC machining, and computer aided design and Manufacturing. Candidates with strong background in composite manufacturing and CNC machining are preferred.

Education and/or Experience Requirements

A PhD in appropriate engineering field or a closely related discipline with industrial experience in aeronautical manufacturing, CNC machining, and UAV is highly desirable. Also, those with MS degree in Manufacturing or related engineering field with at least three years of manufacturing industry experience in machining, composite inspection and repair, laser materials processing and welding, and additive manufacturing would be considered for the position.

  • The Aeronautical Manufacturing Curriculum Designer (AMCD) will research and develop the appropriate sequence of courses that to help students earn attackable certificates that eventually to a lead baccalaureate degree.
  • Development and implementation process of new BS Aeronautical Manufacturing engineering technology program.
  • Developing and teaching lecture and laboratory courses in composite structural design & manufacturing, composite inspection and repair, computer numerical control (CNC) machining and manufacturing, UAV construction and its application.
  • Development and enhancement process of the manufacturing laboratories (CNC, Composite, and UAV).
  • Advising students and serving on department/college committees
  • Participation in workshops and hands-on training courses related to composite manufacturing and repair, CNC machining and advanced manufacturing.
  • Participation in scholarly activities that includes working with students in presenting and publishing papers related to mechanical and manufacturing engineering

Composite Prototype Curriculum Developer

Position purpose

Vaughn College seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor faculty position in the engineering and engineering technology department. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in development of Vaughn’s Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Manufacturing engineering technology program. Vaughn seeks a candidate who can assist the department with the development and implementation process of a new BS degree in aeronautical manufacturing engineering technology program.

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • The CPC Developer will research and develop the appropriate sequence of courses that to help students earn stackable certificates that eventually lead to BS in Aeronautical Manufacturing Engineering Technology degree
  • Assisting the Project Director and STEM Pathway advisor with student monitoring and work with the Research Designer to collect student data for program evaluation
  • Developing and teaching lecture and laboratory courses in composite structural design & manufacturing, solid mechanics, composite inspection and repair
  • Assisting the PD in the development and enhancement process of the manufacturing laboratories
  • Advising students and serving on department/college committees
  • Participation in workshops and hands-on training courses related to composite manufacturing and repair, CNC machining and advanced manufacturing
  • Participation in scholarly activities that includes working with students in presenting and publishing papers related to mechanical and manufacturing engineering
  • Designing courses that support the student learning outcomes outlined by the department

Full Time Faculty Position – Non Tenure Track

Position purpose

A non-tenure track full time faculty position for the Aviation Training Institute.

The Aviation Training Institute houses non-collegiate studies in an FAA approved part 147 curriculum allowing students to ready themselves for careers in aviation maintenance.

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • Teaches lecture and laboratory classes in general, airframe, and power plant curriculums;
  • Grades projects and exams; maintains student attendance and grade records as per FAA requirements
  • Assist with work groups to enhance laboratory and lecture experiences
  • Advises ATI students
  • Supports student learning and activities; enhances educational materials as appropriate
  • As directed by VP of Training, assists with the evaluation of adjuncts -both in lab and lecture environment
  • Participates in departmental meetings/projects and serves on college wide committees/initiatives
  • Attend College wide events, such as Open House, etc.

Education and/or Experience Requirements

A minimum requirement for this position is FAA Airframe and Powerplant certifications

Ability to meet the requirements of designated maintenance examiner applicants

Ability to operate machinery in a safe manner – following established procedures

Ability to understand and follow directions both written and verbal

Work environment and physical functions

This position is located in both a classroom and hanger/ramp area. Generally an employee needs to be able to sit, stand, and navigate within those areas.

Preferred:

A bachelor’s degree as well a minimum of two years aviation maintenance experience

Teaching experience is a plus.
